Introducing Tiered Membership
We are delighted to share that the Women in STEM Network now offers tiered membership, making it easier for everyone to participate and contribute according to their circumstances.
Annual membership is £150 for professionals in paid work, £50 for students, and £25 for those in emerging economies. Our system operates on an honour basis and we simply ask that you pay what
you can afford.
Our New and Improved Members-Only Platform
Another major milestone this month is the launch of our improved members-only platform. It is now more functional, more user-friendly, and better structured to support the growing needs of our community.
While there are still a few glitches, everything is active and ready to explore. We encourage members to log in, test features, and share feedback, as your input is invaluable. The only way to take the platform to the
next stage is through investment, sponsorships and increased membership, which will enable us to bring in developers and branding specialists to refine and enhance its design.
Our platform currently includes five interactive hubs, each designed to support women in STEM at every stage of their careers.
Manage
your membership, update your profile, download your Certificate of Membership, access membership badges, and join our Affiliate Programme to invite others to the network.
Access on-demand training videos, inspiring talks from women in STEM, practical career tools and templates, and an expanding library of free books
exclusively for members.
Current titles include
- Essential Skills for Women to Thrive in STEM
- Presence and Persuasion: Elevating Your Voice Without Shouting
- Speak Up, Stand Firm, Succeed: Self-Advocacy at Work
- Strategic Empathy for Systemic Change in STEM
- Leading on Your Terms: A Leadership Guide for Women in Science
Find a mentor or mentee, follow a step-by-step guide to get started, and access a mentoring tools and resources guide.
The hub includes a dedicated forum for mentors and mentees to connect and share insights, and a search tool that allows filtering by country, language, organisation, institute, availability, and name.
A private space where members can connect directly, message each other, and participate in our Questions and Ideas Forum.
Topics already being discussed include impostor syndrome, work life balance, and career transitions.
The Collaboration section allows members to discuss research projects, start new initiatives, and arrange local
meetups.
Our final area under development, the Recruitment Hub, will connect members with organisations seeking to hire women in STEM, increasing visibility and opportunity across our community.
Ambassadors Update
Our Ambassadors continue to play a vital role in growing and representing the Women in
STEM Network. During our latest meeting, we discussed platform development, ambassador visibility, and expanding outreach initiatives.
Taisiia Mukii shared the success of the first webinar in our new Ukrainian Women in STEM series, titled Personal Branding and Authenticity. The session was well received and marks the beginning of an inspiring series she is leading. She will also be speaking at an upcoming London conference alongside Dr Vasiliki, where they will
introduce the Women in STEM Network to a wider professional audience.
Taisiia invited members to share personal stories about how WiSN has supported their career or confidence. These testimonials will feature on our website and social media to inspire others.
Ruth Morse from UWE Bristol announced plans to highlight the Women in STEM Network during Women’s History Month in March, showcasing our community and achievements across
universities.
We are deeply grateful to our ambassadors worldwide for their dedication and enthusiasm in helping to shape the future of WiSN.
🎄The Women in STEM Network Christmas Appeal
This month, we launched the Women in STEM Network Christmas Appeal, which focuses on giving the gift of opportunity. The appeal supports women around the world who wish to join our international community but may find the cost of
membership out of reach.
Through this initiative, the network provides sponsored memberships for students, early-career professionals, and women in emerging economies where £50 can be a significant barrier. Each sponsored membership opens access to mentoring, on-demand training, leadership development, and a global network of support.
The appeal offers three levels of sponsorship: £50 sponsors one woman for a year, £250 supports five, and £500 funds ten
memberships and recognises the donor as a Women in STEM Partner on our website and in this newsletter. All supporters are acknowledged for their contribution, and corporate sponsors also appear on our Partners page.
The Christmas Appeal reflects our commitment to ensuring that financial circumstances never prevent talented women from advancing in their careers. It is another step in strengthening the global innovation pipeline and building genuine diversity of talent in
STEM.
